About Robert

Originally from New York and raised in South Florida, Robert [Last Name] began his musical journey studying both violin and piano. He earned his Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the Peabody Conservatory, where he studied with Violaine Melançon of the Peabody Trio. He later completed a Master of Arts and a Graduate Artist Diploma in Performance at Montclair State University under Weigang Li of the Shanghai Quartet, serving as Graduate Assistant to the university orchestra.

Robert has appeared as a guest soloist with orchestras across the East Coast and collaborated with legendary artists including Yo-Yo Ma, Itzhak Perlman, and Jaime Laredo. His chamber music performances have taken him to venues around the world, including East China Normal University, Hong Kong’s Western District Chamber Music series, and the Konzert im Kirchgarten series in Hanover, Germany.

A dedicated orchestral performer, Robert plays regularly with the New Jersey Symphony, the New England Symphonic Ensemble at Carnegie Hall, the Binghamton Philharmonic, the New Jersey Festival Orchestra, and the Allentown Symphony. He has also performed with the Bangor Symphony (Maine), the Helena Symphony (Montana), and the Curtis Institute Orchestra.

Robert is the founder of the New Jersey Chamber Players and the Music in the Library concert series at NJIT’s Littman Library, offering lecture-recitals for students featuring chamber music repertoire.

Equally passionate about education, Robert taught violin at the Cazadero Performing Arts Camp in California from 2017–2022 and currently leads the violin program at Robert Treat Academy in Newark, NJ, where he also accompanies the chorus on piano. He serves on the faculty at the Wharton Institute for the Performing Arts, coaching violinists in the New Jersey Youth Symphony, and teaches a private studio of students who have earned regional honors and pursued collegiate music studies. From 2022–2024, he was Adjunct Faculty of Violin and Viola at Raritan Valley Community College.
